Bugatti Chiron

Dörr Automobiles GmbH · Germany · MORE FROM THIS EXHIBITOR

The Bugatti Chiron simply goes the extra mile. Its predecessor, the Veyron, set all the standards with respect to holding the record top speed for road legal cars, but its successor, the Chiron, has surpassed these standards – sometimes by a significant margin – and with less drama.

Overview

The performance of the 16-cylinder engine with an 8-litre cylinder capacity has been increased from 1,200 horsepower to an impressive 1,500 horsepower, which means that it is as powerful as the turbocharged Formula 1 qualification engines from the crazy 1980s. At 2,000 revs, an unbelievable torque of 1,600 Nm is applied, and at full throttle, it drinks in 1,000 litres of air every second. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 2.4 seconds, reach 200 kph in 6.1 seconds and while some good small cars are happy to break the 100 kph barrier in 13.1 seconds with the accelerator pushed all the way to the floor, the Chiron can reach an ear-popping speed of 300 kph in the same amount of time.

In fact, the car can also reach speeds of 400 kph and faster. Officially, the limited edition Chiron, of which there are only 500, can reach a speed of 420 kph before it is electronically restricted. As with its predecessor model, the Veyron, a second key is needed to bypass the speed restriction feature. This is to make sure that drivers know exactly what they intend to do.

When parked, you can see that all of the experience that Bugatti has attained working on hypercars has been channelled into the Chiron, which was released in 2016. The car has a harmonious design, as if made from one piece, while the Veyron appeared much more dramatic about its potential. The interior of the Chiron is dominated by carbon and leather, featuring ergonomic seat positions and straightforward, user-friendly instruments. The only irritating thing is that the speedometer only goes up to 500 kph.
